Why wood pays to separate.
Clean timber has an onward market as panel board and biomass, so facilities charge less to take it. It is also bulky, which means it eats mixed-skip volume you are paying a premium for.

The things people ask before booking.
It helps a great deal. Clean untreated timber is Grade A and the cheapest to move because there is a strong onward market for it. Treated, painted or preserved wood is a higher grade and costs more, and mixing the two means the whole load is priced at the higher grade.
Yes, and in volume. If you are generating pallets regularly it is worth mentioning, because some are worth reusing rather than recycling and that changes the economics of the collection.
Fine. Ordinary fixings are removed during processing. What causes a problem is substantial metalwork, brackets, hinges and ironmongery, which is worth pulling off first if there is a lot of it.
Almost always, for two reasons. The disposal rate is lower, and timber is bulky, so it was taking up volume in a mixed skip you were paying a premium for. Separating it usually reduces both bills at once.
Those are treated with preservatives that make them hazardous waste, and they cannot go in a wood skip. They need a separate route with consignment-note paperwork. Tell us and we will arrange it properly.
