The things people ask before booking.
No. HVO meets EN 15940 and is a drop-in replacement, approved by most major engine manufacturers. You can run it in the same tanks and the same machines, and you can mix it with diesel already in the tank. Check your manufacturer's position if the plant is under warranty.
Around ninety per cent on a lifecycle basis compared with fossil diesel, depending on the feedstock and how it is certified. The certification is what matters for a tender submission, so ask for it and keep it with your bid documents.
Yes, noticeably, and we would rather say that plainly. It is not a fuel-bill saving, it is an emissions saving. Where a contract scores carbon, or a client has a target they are being held to, that trade is often worth making. Where nobody is measuring, it usually is not.
Considerably. HVO does not attract the water and microbial growth that causes diesel bug in tanks that sit part-full for months, which makes it worth considering for seasonal plant and standby generators quite apart from the carbon.
Yes. It mixes with ordinary diesel in any proportion, so there is no flushing and no changeover procedure. Plenty of sites run whichever is available and simply report the split.
